Cold ring tools are used in the process of socket fusing thermoplastic materials such as HPDE fittings with HDPE geothermal pipe. The cold ring is used to both re-round the pipe and to set the proper socket fusion depth which ensures a successful fusion joint. You cannot create a quality socket fusion joint without using a cold ring tool in conjunction with a chamfer tool/depth gauge.
Geo-Flo’s cold ring tools are manufactured in our Bedford, IN, USA plant by TIG welding a precision CNC machined steel ring to a quality locking plier. Geo-Flo’s cold ring pliers are finished by color coating to enable quick recognition of the pipe size allowing more experienced installers to train less experienced staff (“…hand me the red cold rings”). Each size tool also features extended range jaws that allow them to be removed from the pipe without making adjustments to the locking screw for fast and repeatable socket fusion joints.
